Students in modified reading are wrapping up a Black History Month project. They were assigned a Black History Month activist to research and they are now finishing their poster projects.
Reading Month has officially kicked off! We will begin every reading class with independent reading. The students all have a library of books which are leveled to match their ability. They are always welcome to take books home to practice.
Looking forward, we will be discussing Main Idea, and Character traits later in the year.
I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and came to Michigan for college. I attended Central Michigan University and graduated with a degree in Special Education. I have lived in metro Detroit ever since college. I have been with Hope of Detroit since November 2015, starting as a Special Education teacher, and interventionist.
Modified math Curriculum
Students have mastered their multiplication strategies and are moving on to division. They are working on relating multiplication and division and creating fact families.
Later in the year we will be discussing fractions, 2-D shapes, time and money.
We will be incorporating more hands on activities and projects into our curriculum.
